We went on another ride at Farragut on Saturday with a group of people. It was alot of fun and Kylie did really well! We will be going again tomorrow just Kylie and I, we did this a week or so ago and it went really well. Now to teach Kylie more on the ground as she is getting big enough to do that also. I know it was all backwards teaching her to ride rather then ground manners first, but we need to work with Autumn anyway so they can learn together.

Actually, sometimes I think they're safer in the saddle then on the ground. I always cringe when I see someone get off their horse in a bad situation and navigate it from the ground. I used to do that, but in my older age I'm thinking differently--you'd have to pry me out of my saddle with a crowbar--at least with my horse--someone else's, I might choose the ground--lol. Does that sound wishy-washy? It is. ;)
But anyway, I think Shiloh rode first and then learned it from the ground later. I did all the groundwork, prior to that, for her. In fact, I did everything for her until she was about eleven or twelve-I believe it was the same month she turned twelve, actually. The day she did it all herself though was like the BEST day of my life. I left her alone with her horse and about ten minutes later, she rode into the arena--properly tacked up and in control. I never had to do anything for her again. I cried with happiness that day. Does that mean I'm lazy or emotional?
